In the Presence of Enemies is actually one of my favorites by DT. They change up all the time, don't get pissed because it doesn't fit your narrow point of view as to what Dream Theater actually is.

Man, I just realized something about Jordan. Jordan's hair was long during Scenes and Six Degrees, and the albums were amazing. He shaves it off, and DT ends up writing stuff like In the Presence of Enemies and The Dark Eternal Night.

And the celli and the horn section, but you'd say that at this point they can hear themselves properly and that they're professional musicians, so it's foul and badly tuned

I think I like it better with the whole band in it as well rather than just the orchestra.

No i really think they are well tuned, strings just, sometimes, land slightly beside the note on more fast parts, but in general they are Ok im sure

This just hurts.... The orchestra is so badly tuned.
I can't blame them for cold tuning but then they left the instruments at stage temperature, so they detune, it's something the conductor should have noted... It's the only reason why I don't like this piece, the music is brilliant but not this way...

I agree, like the orchestra and most of all the strings aren't properly tuned... Some are under tuned, some over tuned... It's mostly the alto violins in combination with the celli and the horns add a fifth note of contrast too, it's not what you expect for such a masterpiece. Anyone who doesn't hear it is obviously tone deaf |
