How to Knit an Angora Baby Hat Part 1

Patti Moreno shows you how to knit a baby hat in the 2x2 Ribbed pattern. This video is closed captioned and available in many languages!Full Text:How to Knit an Angora Baby Hat Part 1I have made a little swatch here and I just love it. It is just giving me different textures and thick and fluffy there and it is thinner here and it is just going to look beautiful. So, I have checked my gauge. I am using size eleven needles here and I am using the bamboo needles there 16 inches long and these are the type of circular needles that you want to use to make hats, you want to get this 16 inch circular needles and I like using bamboo, bamboo works really well, it is light weight and when you are using anchor it is a little bit slippery. So, if you using the metal needles it is a little bit harder, because it is very slippery, that is why I like using the bamboo.I am going to cast on the 60 stitches and then I am going to begin joining them in around and I am going to make sure that I am not twisting it. Do not want to make that mistake and you will realize you are not going to be able to use it as hat. So, I am going to join it on around and when I join it in around I am going to work in the rib pattern. So, I am going to knit-to and pearl-to for the entire hat, every round and I am going to do that until the hat is 8 inches long and then, I am going to start decreasing and finishing the hat. Now, I want to make it eight inches long, because I am going to have it fold over, so that hat is going to be able to fold over. So, you want to make sure that it is long enough to be able to do that and have a nice limp to it.All right, I am at 60 and going to start joining them in the round and I want to make sure that I do not twist it. And, I am going to start of with knit-to. I am going to continue this for eight inches, then it is going to be time for me to start decreasing the hat and binding it off.

Do you know how to teach knitting for left handed people. I know how to knit, but it's hard to teach my daughter because she's left handed..

just keep knitting in round, as if there was no start or end of the cast on stitches
