What matters is how well the lecturer teaches the class. The problem is, some lecturers are extremely entertaining, but they don't teach all the material properly. On the other hand, some lecturers are strict, but they teach you the material, and at the end of the semester you're ready for higher division courses. And a big problem are the teachers who don't teach, and plus they're boring. Those are called research professors so they can't be fired.

physics teachers. Which makes it very difficult to get people interested. Some schools do much better than others. There is such a shortage that non - specialist teachers actually teach the physics even though they do not have a degree in physics.

That is why American education is so good. People study what they are interested in. Which is great. In England it is a bit dodgy. Every student must sit single award science as a minimum. Which is physics, chemistry and biology. Double award is the same but with double the content. And finally triple science, which is seperate GCSE's in Physics biology and chemistry. GCSE's are below A-level and you need 3 A-levels to go to university. It is required but there is a severe national shortage of

This guy has my seal of approval.

This guy is not boring unlike some of the other dorky native English-speaking MIT lecturers. On the contrary his non-English accent adds to the his entertaining enthusiasm. lol

Now that I think about it, 14 year olds are freshman high schoolers in America... I would actually expect them to know some very basic Newtonian physics. My class is currently studying electricity (specifically charge, potential, fields, and currents). In England, is physics a required course in most schools? I can tell you that in my school district, only those interested in science as a career even bother taking Physics.

I am a physics teacher in England and my 15 year old students have to be able to take gradients of velocity - time graphs and perform basic calculations. These are not particularly the top students but just above average. Maybe the top 30% in a year group. And it is an average school.

Physics and mathematics is AMAZING!! Best subjects ever.

Really? Do 14 year olds REALLY know that acceleration is rate of change in velocity? I think thats fairly advanced stuff...

This guy is great!
