Actually, this is pretty standard stuff in committees of all stripes, government and otherwise. Aside from the initial dispute over handling the point-of-order, which only demonstrated the ignorance of committee procedures by members of the committee, it was hardly a brawl.

Any body that can function as a brake on a demagogic legislature, yet still responsible to the people albeit on a broader franchise, is an excellent thing.MPs ought to be challenged, and it ought to be harder for a government to ramrod controversial measures using the party its beholden to. This principle applies to any government, Conservative, Liberal or any other.
