It's very difficult to make that cut to the outside - he's already has a full steam of momentum running down field. He didn't have much time to see that play develop, either.Dotterer had an excellent run and gave Stanford a great chance to win the game. It might have helped if they tackled someone other than a band member during the kickoff return.

hey guys I'm not an American (I'm Australian) nor am I an expert on Gridiron but my understanding is unless the play is challenged the result stands regardless of what evidence to the contrary is displayed after the match

@The1211998 ....Hey dummy, I told you returns for game winning touchdowns on the final play of the game happens once every 10,000 games. It happened in this game, the titans play-off game and just a couple of other games out of the past 50 years of college and pro football games.

justin- ur kidding me right. touchdown returns happen almost once every 2 football. go to desean jackson and tell him a return for touch only happens once every 10,000 timescome on :(

u can not change the end of a college football game 28 years later cal won and that will not get changed

This, if you dont realize already, sets off a chain reaction that causes a wild and crazy finish that might not have happened had everything been done right. But mistakes were made, plays and penalties were called, and one team took advantage of the opportunities presented to them, immortalizing themselves in the process. Hell, I hear Kevin Moen (the tight end who scored the TD) and Gary Tyrrell (the trombone player) are unlikely friends. So, great things can come from such adversity.

Uh, dude, I went to UCLA, so I have no emotional attachment to either school or either outcome. They are our Pac-10 rivals after all, in case you didn't know. Maybe if you read my three-part analysis that came before this, you would know my premise is that Stanford doomed their chances of winning Big Game 1982 because Dotterer runs into other players and gets tackled instead of going toward open field (the sideline) for the easy touchdown.
